The College Hill Café, which is owned and operated by Blue State Coffee, features organic, fairly traded, shade grown coffees. Blue State Coffee roasts in small batches using the highest quality beans, sourced from growers that use eco-friendly farming methods and adhere to fair labor practices. Blue State Coffee's coffee director travels to origin to meet with farmers and to pick the best lots for its blends and single origin coffees.
Food offerings are made in Blue State Coffee's kitchen and the menu changes seasonally. It features locally sourced produce and cheese; hormone-free and antibiotic-free meats; and free range and vegetarian fed local eggs. Baked goods are made from scratch with all natural ingredients and all offerings are trans-fat free. There are vegan and gluten free options as well.
Blue State Coffee's goal is to become a "zero waste" business. Everything handed to customers in the College Hill Café is edible, drinkable, recyclable, commercially compostable, or reusable.
In addition, Blue State Coffee is committed to giving back to the local community by donating 2% of sales to local non-profit organizations. Customers nominate the charities that will be supported and vote on how the donations are allocated.
Hours of operation are the same as those of the Brown Bookstore.
